Leading Through the Storm

Last Updated Jun 18, 2009

Presenter: Ken Coley

All leaders, young and veteran, experience storms within their learning communities. Some leaders anticipate these uncertain times better than others because of insight and preparation. This enabler has five sections, using Scripture as the foundation. Each section focuses on challenging every leader to prepare spiritually, mentally, and professionally for the dangers threatening to knock their school off course and eventually destroy it. In addition to an examination of God’s Word, each section will present an intriguing nautical story and information from current administrative theory.

Who should attend? This seminar is dedicated to all leaders of Christian schools: grade level instructional leaders, principals, future leaders who are being mentored, and board members.

Get Answers:

  • Have you identified the lighthouses on your journey that will prevent your school from running around or crashing on the rocks?
  • Can you discern the ledges that may cause a shipwreck and must be avoided in your navigation?
  • Have you determined with your Board what you mean by the label, “excellence,” in Christian education?
  • Have you been able to discern those people and events which may disable or shipwreck your school?
  • On what are you depending if your school should face the “perfect storm?”
  • Can you train others to perform their duties in the midst of the complexities of managing a growing school?
  • Would you like to learn new techniques to be more effective in supervising and encouraging teachers in the instructional arena?
  • Can you survive the two most difficult storms—dismissing a teacher or expelling a student—while being Christ-like and avoiding liability exposure?
  • Does change cause chaos in your school community or do you face a mutiny when conflict occurs?
