Conventions Conventions

Tacoma 2011

Last Updated Oct 28, 2011

Welcome to the Northwest ACSI Convention conveniently located by the waterfront shops, restaurants, and museums in beautiful Tacoma, Washington. The light rail and bus lines are available for commuters and the train depot is a five-minute taxi or bus ride away. Please note specific parking areas in or near the Convention Center.

We believe God's blessings are in store for all of us at the Tacoma Convention Center. The Courtyard Marriott Hotel (information below) shares the same entry and is available at a discount rate for our guests spending the night.

Our keynote speaker, Dr. William Brown, comes to us highly recommended by ACSI regional directors across the country. One director identified Dr. Brown as the best keynote speaker in the past five years. He is a university president who knows how to keep First Things First.

Please begin to pray that God will open up doors for all our Northwest schools to attend, as well as for the planning and preparation that will take place in the months to come.

►Register for the Tacoma Convention by September 23, 2011, for early bird rates.

Keynote Speaker

Dr. William E. Brown became president of Cedarville University in June 2003, following a 10-year presidency at Bryan College in Dayton, Tenn. A graduate of the University of South Florida, Brown holds a master of theology degree and PhD from Dallas Theological Seminary.

As a nationally recognized expert in worldview, Brown has authored three books Making Sense of Your Faith, Where Have All the Dreamers Gone?, Observations from a Biblical Worldview, and Making Sense of Your World  with Gary Phillips—and more than one hundred articles for journals, magazines, encyclopedias, and newspapers. He is also the executive producer of re:View, a film series which helps students discern culture.

Most recently excerpts from Brown's book, Where Have All the Dreamers Gone?, have begun to reach thousands of new readers. Fifty-three selections from Brown's book appear in the new Impact Student Leadership Bible, a project that incorporates hundreds of articles, notes, and study aids aimed at developing a balanced Christian worldview.

Brown holds memberships in organizations such as the Society of Christian Philosophers, the Evangelical Philosophical Society, and the Evangelical Theological Society. He has also lectured internationally in Europe, the former Soviet Union, and South America.

Married since 1976, Brown and his wife, Lynne Jones Brown, are the parents of April and Alex.

Musical Guest Artists

The Neverclaim was birthed out of a desire to see people come to a real encounter with God that would inspire life change. “When people encounter God they can’t help but be faced with two realities.

► I am loved far beyond what I have ever imagined.

► This love is worth giving all of myself to. This band wishes to lose claim of our lives and surrender our purpose to God,” says lead singer and songwriter Jeremiah Carlson.

“We truly see our music simply as a tool to inspire a generation to live powerful, selfless lives inspired by intimacy with God.”

Since their beginning in 2007, The Neverclaim has quickly grown into a band that is hard to forget. Their passion to worship God is encased in music that targets the heart of every listener. Like anthems sung in times of reformation, The Neverclaim’s songs are meant to become anthems of revival for this generation.

Having shared the stage with such bands as Third Day, Kutless, Hawk Nelson, Addison Road, and Shawn Macdonald, they have quickly made a name for themselves in the Christian Music scene.

You can visit The Neverclaim on Facebook and Myspace.
