IMKEC Consensus Statements—History
2009 Consensus Statements
The purposes of IMKEC are:
- To foster inter-mission cooperation and understanding in MK education
- To help promote and uphold standards of excellence in MK education
- To examine areas of mutual concern to mission agencies, and to help missions to develop appropriate guidelines and policies in MK education.
1. New Sending Countries
IMKEC encourages agencies with members from new sending countries to focus on effectively meeting the educational needs of their member family children. This could be done through encouraging agency participation in conferences, and through surveys focused on NSC educational needs, as well as continuing dialog with their NSC member families.
2. Resource Sharing
IMKEC values the interagency discussions held at IMKEC over the years, and the sharing of resources that has taken place. IMKEC would like to partner with and learn from similar sending agencies throughout the world.
3. Media Production from EdSend
IMKEC endorses the concept and encourages the continued development of the media production "The Value of and Need for Teachers of Missionary Children" for use in MK teacher recruitment and retention, and for use in procurement of financial support for Project EdSend. IMKEC appreciates TIS making the material available for others to use as they deem appropriate.
4. Child Safety
MKEC reaffirms both the ongoing development of the Child Safety Protection Network and the 2008 IMKEC Consensus Statement.
