Student Bulk Registration Process for Schools

This document describes the procedure for a school to bulk register students for the Gibson Cognitive Skills Test.

1. Create a Comma Separated Value (CSV) file using Excel with student information as defined below.
2. The CSV must have a header row indicating the ID of each column. The order of the columns does not matter, since each is assigned an ID. Extraneous columns are allowed and will be ignored.
3. Use the following columns. Please specify student first and last names as separate fields.
   a. fname (First name)
   b. lname (Last name)
   c. dob (Date of birth—month/day/year)
   d. gender (Gender—can be “m,” “f” or “male,” “female”)
   e. id (Unique student ID used by the school)
   f. grade (Grade)
   g. group (School or campus identifier (if multiple schools or campuses are being reported simultaneously)
4. Transmit data in a password protected ZIP file, or other transmission technique meeting school privacy requirements.
5. BrainSkills will import this information into your account at The Gibson Test.
6. Go to The GCSTest site to print out student login information, which will include automatically generated User IDs and Passwords.
7. Provide student login information as appropriate to each class.
8. When students login, they will see a message stating they need to complete their registration. They will click on a link that will take them to their registration page, which will be pre-populated with the information previously imported. Students will need to complete the following questions to finish the registration process. The following information can be included in the CSV file if the school has the information available.    a. Zip code at home address
   b. Race
   c. Is student a native English speaker?
9. Once the registration is complete the student will be able to take the test.
   Example CSV:
   id,fname,lname,dob,gender,grade,group
